Kerala is one of the small states of India in terms of area. it consists of only 1.3 per cent of the total area of India. The state is located in the southwest corner of India. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu bound it on north, east and south and on east by the Arabian Sea. Kerala is always referred to as God’s own country. This term has a mythological belief that states that- Lord Parshuram, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu threw his axe into the vast sea to develop land for his followers to reside peacefully. And that is how the state of Kerala was born from the god itself. The outstanding culture of the state of Kerala is a blend of both Indian and Dravidian styles. The different folk cultures of Kerala are Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and kalaripayattu. Kathakali- It is one of the most famous dance forms of India. It is a combination of Opera, ballet, and masque.
Abundant with rich flora and fauna and over 25 animal sanctuaries and national parks, it’s no surprise that Kerala is abundant with the most beautiful wildlife. The region is a haven for birdwatchers, with sightings of species including the Indian Koel, Ceylon Frogmouth, Loten’s Sunbird and more.
Perhaps the most famous food of Kerala, idli sambar are fondly eaten in not just all households in Kerala, but everywhere else in India! The perfect combination of fermented rice cakes and a deliciously tangy curry of aromatic spices and vegetables like lentils.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Kerala is September through March when the skies are sunniest and average high temperatures are 30 degrees. Prices will be higher in hotels from October to March. For lower prices, visit from April to August.
